How to trim the fat
Here are some tips to help you "cut the fat and improve the productivity of your business. If you ask some of these, you're well on your way to achieve greater profitability and creating less stress!
1. Cut the Slackers!
"Carrying weight employees dead? To lose now! "Have you ever tried to run a marathon, while a tractor tire old? This is what it is like trying to grow a productive business with unproductive (or unmotivated) employees. Not only add value to their bottom lines, they will drag other "productive" work colleagues at their level. Court a slack worker (legally of course) will actually increase the productivity of other colleagues.
2. Cut the paper!
"Start a war on paper! "You need to print that e-mail to read? O brief? Clutter in small office desks and promote better use of the digital display. Ask the customers e-mail instead of fax files, and print media. Use a web project management time-based monitoring or solution and not paper based timesheets. Get the drift – saves trees too!
3. Reduce the time!
"A task can take two to 10 minutes to an hour! "Have you noticed that if you give a task (ie: writing a proposal) to an employee and have a day to do it, will, but if you give them three days to do the same thing, guess what, they will take 3 days! Set tight deadlines and accurate (ie: 3:30 pm Wednesday) on important tasks, and their staff be more productive.
4. Cut costs!
Plug all holes in your cash flow! " List of all your business expenses. Beside each one, write one of the following: Need for, examine, Enough. Do not take home extra work, and not just go home, relax, playing golf, jogging, enjoy family and come early to make that extra work. Not only will it work better after relaxing, but your family life better!
7. Motivating Staff, Incentives offer!
"Personal priorities are not the same as the priorities manager!" Managers, owners and managers have different motives and personal priorities. The fact that you are excited about your business does not mean that staff. Your mind is on the bottom line, while staff that of their pay, and pays them whether to perform or not. Motivating staff performance related bonuses such as money, free time and labor flexibility.
8. Rental multipurpose workers!
"Expand your knowledge base without the expense!" Create e-mail templates, template forms and documents with a "table of functions and responsibilities," use the applications of process automation, digital timesheets, autoresponders, etc. almost all automatic payments on your business processes can be creatively systematized to be easier, faster and cheaper! If a process organization three months, that is 36 processes a year – what a difference!
14. The workers use remote!
"Just pay for what you use!" Each member of staff not only salary costs but also a chair, a desk, a computer, power, square footage, coffee in the kitchen etc. Using remote workers and contractors save money and maybe not even need a huge office. Even have to pay for your own coffee!
15. Learn to delegate!
"Work on your business, not on it!" If you are a manager, you should spend at least 80% of their working time on growth, systematization, trimming, and strategic planning. Are you spending too much time on household chores and hard work can be delegated? If so, learn to delegate (or employer of contractors), as the free will of their time to concentrate on the big picture – "The growth of your business and make it profitable!"
