How to find someone’s information from a census?
I’m trying to find my great grandfather’s information from a census.
I went to ancestry.com and it said they had info from the 1930 census. Is their a way to either:
Find the census and then manually search
OR
Search somewhere online for the specific name and for info
I;m looking for like name, spouse, city, etc.
THANKS
That is their way of teasing you into buying a subscription. If you subscribe, you get a search engine that will let you search by name, state, birth year, birth state, spouse’s name, township, county, and state. It supports wild cards and soundex.
The easiest, if you want just one one look up, is to post his name, city, county, state and birth year here; someone here will look him up for you.
You can subscribe to Ancestry for 14 days for free, cancel on the 13th day. That is not fair, but a lot of people do it.
You can subscribe for a year for $159, which is the cost of a bottle of decent, not stellar, wine once a month.
One of the volunteers at your local Family History Center may have a subscription and be willing to do look ups while you wait.
Your public library may have a subscription to either Ancestry or Heritage Quest. The one in my county doesn’t; it varies by county.
