Does anyone know how up to date Ancestry is with UK Birth and Marriage records? I was trying to look a few?
things up in the library on Saturday, but couldn’t find the records, yet I know they exist. When you think how much they charge, surely they records could be kept more up to date than they are at the moment. Before someone says I don’t pay because I use the this facility in the library, I am a Council Tax payer, so I do contribute towards the cost
Ancestry seems to suggest that it has both up until 2005 although there may be gaps in the freebmd indexes since they are done by volunteers and some sections may not be complete. (I just tried to find my parents marriage around 1960 and couldn’t) Ancestry doesn’t control that they just sponsor the site.

Ancestry did used to have the option of searching through the quarters manually but I can’t see that option there at the moment, they seem to change things round quite a bit.
You can browse the records by quarter still at findmypast.com maybe you can ask the library to subscribe to that site also?
