Why are people from Mexico, Central America, etc called Spanish?
Spain (Spanish people) are in Europe and aren’t of Indian ancestry like Mexicans, etc. I’m starting to notice why only 23% of Americans have a college degree, not very bright!!! So if I learn German could I call myself German? I think not.
Why are people from Mexico, Central America, etc called Spanish?
WELL it’s a very good question….
Spain colonized and subjugated the latin american subcontinet, they (Spanish) interbred and intermarried, creating MULATTO and MESTIZO people, It was so different from the british colonization of the U.S.A, they(British) didn’t interbred at a large scale with the native population of North america.
What I want to state is… In some way the mexican people are the offspring of those spanish who colonized the territory which is known as México, I know the mexican people look quite different from the european white spanish, but I have to make THIS clear, the people who crossed the ocean from spain were mostly people from Andalucia (southern spain) who had “Arabian heritage” (because Arabs ruled spain for 800 years) that’s why at some extent The people who are migrating from mexico to The U.S. are called spanish BUT look so different from the european “White Spanish”, they are no longer Spaniard in an strict sense nor native mexicans people “AZTEC” they are MESTIZOS….otherwise where did they come from?…certainly WE DIDN’T show up on this world as an act of magic…..
so we are the offsprings of the ancient spanish and aztec people along african ,chinese, korean, italian , german, french, philipino ………. that’s why mexico is called “a Melting pot of cultures”.
If you have a child with a Nordic beauty … and your child and your grandson does not look like you or your spanish granpa…. that’s does not mean your offsprings are not spainsh at all, at least your offsprings have an spanish ancestry even though they look Like Swede or Finish …
