Ancestry Pedigree Charts
How far back do you think someone has LEGITLY traced back their ancestry?

Copying and pasting other people’s family trees that are probably errored DON’T count…How many generations (and to what year) have you traced yours back and how far back do you think the oldest has?
I think someone might have got their’s to like 50BC-1D because maybe they found pedigree charts for Roman emperors/royalty that they were related to…

Unless you are descended from somebody rich or famous, or of royal or noble blood it is really difficult.
In the UK registraion of BM&D did not start til 1837 and before that the parish records are not always a good source for information. No ages or addresses on marriages for example.
I have noticed that a lot of American researchers tend to make leaps of faith in their ancestry and somehow often manage to find titled ancestors.
Thousands and thousands of British researchers never manage this because they tend to demand more proof of connections.
Anyone who claims to have traced back a very long way should be able to categorically prove it by documents.
I actually heard one American lady say she was descended from King Arthur. How did she prove a link to a mythical figure???

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Pedigree collapse is a term created by Robert C. Gunderson to describe how reproduction between two individuals who knowingly or unknowingly share an ancestor causes the family tree of their offspring to be smaller than it could otherwise be.Without pedigree collapse, a persons ancestor tree is a binary tree, formed by the person, the parents, grandparents, and so on. However, the number of individuals in such a tree grows exponentially and will eventually become impossibly high. For example, a single individual alive today would, over 30 generations going back to the High Middle Ages, have 230 or roughly a billion ancestors, more than the total world population at the time. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A pedigree chart is a chart that shows all of the known phenotypes for an organism and its ancestors, most commonly humans, show dogs, and race horses. The word pedigree is a corruption of the French pied de grue or cranes foot, because the typical lines and split lines (each split leading to different offspring of the one parent line) resemble the thin leg and foot of a crane. In England and Wales pedigrees are officially recorded in the College of Arms, which has records going back to the Middle Ages, including pedigrees collected during roving inquiries by its heralds during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The purpose of these heraldic visitations was to register and regulate the use of coats of arms. Those who claimed the right to bear arms had to provide proof either of a grant of arms to them by the College, or of descent from an ancestor entitled to arms. It was for this reason that pedigrees were recorded by the visitations. Pedigrees continue to be registered at the College of Arms and kept up to date on a voluntary basis but they are not accessible to the general public without payment of a fee. Pedigree is Georges Simenon’s longest and most unusual novel, one that is increasingly seen as lying at the heart of his outsize achievement as a chronicler of modern self and society. In the early 1940s, Simenon began work on a memoir of his Belgian childhood. He showed the initial pages to André Gide, who urged him turn them into a novel. The result was, Simenon later remarked, a book in which everything is true but nothing is accurate. It is in any case a book in which the sights, sounds, and smells, the sensory overload and relentless insistence of the city, the interplay of its public and private spaces, are everywhere compellingly present, an epic of life in all its messy unfinished intensity and density, a coming-of-age story that is also about the coming-to-be of the modern world.Spanning the years from the beginning of the century, with its anarchist threats, to the end of the First World War in 1918, Pedigree is the story of a boy growing into a young man and making his way in a city of gaslights, trams, rain, squalor, and secret delight.
