Visas in italy for Australians?
am Australian but have been travelling on a UK Ancestry visa for 4 years.
My partner is Italian and we want to live there full time.
I arrived back in Australia at the start of December to arrange a visa. I was going to apply for the Working / holiday visa as that was what i was advised.
Its taken so long to get any answers or anywhere in fact that i havent even started the application.
Now to make it complicated, ive just found out that i am pregnant.
Does anyone know what the rules are in my situation. Do i still need to apply for a working / holiday visa or am i different now we are expecting a baby?

You really need to speak to someone at either the Italian Embassy or a Consulate near you. Much will depend on the type of relationship you have with your partner, will he support you financially etc. At this stage you might qualify for a long-term visa, but will not be allowed to work as you’re not a EU citizen.
The Working Holiday visa requires you to have either a return air ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one. In addition to that you must have savings of at least 3,500euros and be able to show that you can support yourself. Work in Italy is hard to come by if you’re not from the EU and being pregnant will pose a problem with work. And you will need to return home before applying for any other type of visa, otherwise you’ll be considered an illegal alien.
You say you’ve been in the UK on an Ancestry visa, is there any chance you are eligible for a British Passport? If you are, then get one as that will entitle you to both live and work in Italy.
