Am i going to have any problems applying for a UK Ancestry Visa?

I’m thinking about getting a ancestry visa as my grandfather was born in the uk and i have his birth certificate. i was just wondering if it mattered if i didn’t intend on working there immediately, maybe in a year or so. Though i might go over there for a holiday in the meantime. Will this affect my application if i applied right now?

OK you need to decide what your goals are going to England. If you go on an ancestry visa after the length of the visa (5 years) you can apply for ILR. However you must be in employment for the whole period of the visa. In other words you have not taken months off to go on holiday, as you state you want to take a year off. This would not be good under the ancestry visa.

So you could look at the holidaymakers visa, which allows you to stay for up to two years with max of 12 months working
