UK Ancestry Visa – Getting it in advance?
Hello All,
I am planning to get my UK Ancestry Visa before they change the rules. But I have to stay in my current country for another eighteen months.
Is there a rule saying that I have to use it within X months of receiving it?
Or can I receive the visa now and wait for 18 months, then go to the UK, and the Ancestry visa will still be valid?
I can’t find this info anywhere.
It will be valid from the date it is issued for the set period of time. So even if you do not enter the UK for 18 months after the visa has been issued then you will still have the same end date. So you would lose 18 months of your visa. Remember you can apply for ILR being on an ancestry visa but they are certain requirements you have to complete in that time period (5 years)
I would suggest you wait until you need it.
