Did you use bumper pads? How do you keep a baby from getting their arms and legs stuck without them?
My son is 4.5 months old and ALL over the crib. I think he needs a king sized bed to sleep in because there’s absolutely no telling where he’ll end up in the crib or in what direction. 
Anyhow, I haven’t been using bumper pads to avoid the SIDS risk associated with them. However, there have been several times I’ve awoken to him frantically screaming (he’s in my room) because he’s gotten his arms or legs stuck. It’s gotten worse since he’s started rolling over on his belly to sleep (which I hate). Anyhow, my husband wants to put the bumpers back in, but I’m terrified. Did you guys use them with an active baby? Did they bury their faces in them? Jake already buries his head in the mattress.
It’s been the same with my son (now 6 months old). I was too terrified to use bumper pads, so I just moved him back on his back and in the middle of the crib whenever he woke up screaming.
Now he’s doing it a lot less than he used to.
My mother in law wanted me to use bumper pads so I’ve been doing some research on the risks of the arms and legs getting stuck versus bumper pads. After reading more about bumper pads, I wasn’t as terrified, but I still decided against using them.
I’ve asked nurses about the meshed pads. They didn’t know the product, but advised me to make sure that they would be properly fitted around the crib so that the child could not get his limbs stuck between the pad and the crib.
I’ve also read that the risk of bumper pads is not only SIDS: when your child is bigger and stronger, there is also a risk that he may use the bumper pad to get out of his crib.
