Bonds, Maps and Other Advertising Rip-offs
Every community has' em. Fast talkers who roll into town with a clever idea to sell to people business.
Many times the ideas are clever and cute but you should weigh the ups and downs of each offer before you dig a checkbook. Most of these people in the city-by one day want their cash advance.
Some common ways to separate you from your cash are:
Coupon Books
They offer for you to have a giant coupon book to be sold for charity in need or Lions Club. The books are sold on the phone and delivered $ 29 by the Boy Scouts. Beware of bugs and missing deadlines once the operation has moved to another city.
Phone Book Covers
They wrapped around the book and call to see your ad every time you reach for the book. It might be fine if you own the crane
service, locksmith or funeral but run the other way if you have a grocery store, Mickey Dees, or bank.
City Maps
Your ad is placed somewhere around the edge of map. You can get pitched by several companies. Some are better than others, most are very expensive. There are maps like these when you see them and decide whether to do business with anyone on the map at the announcement. Distribution is the point of sale. Placement is the bug-a-boo. What if your ad is in the back and the reader only based on
the front? Do not be fooled by the promise of radio ads proclaiming free maps and mentioning his name.
