Why do some puerto ricans, dominicans, and other rainbow latinos deny their african ancestry?
As an african American i feel connected to my afro latinos. I feel they are an extension of myself and i love their culture. However, i feel that they see themselves as being different and the funny thing is some of them look just like me. Do they feel connected to african americans in any way? (besides urban hip hop culture).
I agree with Lex and Cynical to an extent.But it always intrigues me that they would choose their white blood over their african american blood.And alot of Domicans&puertoricans are not even of native blood.The majority of the tainos died out when they came into contact with the spanish.But it all has to do with an Inferiority complex and self hatred.If Dominicans are Latinos then Haitians should be too.They share the same piece of land for god sakes.
