(5 stars) Biology help with beautiful plants and gender. PLEASE HELP .. I am a bit confused …?
Are the following trees the same gender? Why or why not? * Yellow-wood * This outbreak * red * black locust tree KY bean Ok, so I know these are all classified in the family Fabaceae, but I'm not sure what you are asking this question? PLEASE help. Thanks
No, no. All you need to do is to search the name of the plant and add the term "taxonomy" and you should find results that give you the scientific names including gender (word capitalized) and species (small box). For example, the scientific name is Cercis canadensis Redbud (http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=CECA4 ) As for "Cercis" is the generic name for that plant. However, the scientific name is black locust Robinia pseudoacacia (http://plants.usda.gov/java/nameSearch?keywordquery=robinia+pseudoacacia&mode=sciname – Gender Robinia). This website is the Kentucky coffee tree (note that there is no bean "in the name) http://plants.usda.gov/java/nameSearch. There are a number of plants Yellowwood called, but only one Fabaceae: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=CLKE If you go to "rank", you can get the names of family, order, class, division, etc. for each well.
