THEORY OF PROBLEM SOLVING

First two sentences Theory of

Any man or natural device, system or subsystem can be described as a means by which the movement, flow or transmission any form of living, materials, mechanical components, any form of energy, money and information is enabled or controlled in directions desirable or is prevented in undesirable directions.

Whenever problems arise, the words get exchanged or desirable in above definition, from the perspective of the observer.

1. INTRODUCTION: -

In any modern machine, when is running perfectly, gives immense satisfaction to the user and the user assumes that the machine will work as intended for all through their working lives without any problem.

However, all such machines as complex as any modern turbine power house at some point the start, giving him problems. These are of two types: –

1) Problems due to wear and tear with aging: -

These are common problems that arise due to worn parts and can be solved by replacing / repair and inspection of the machine as recommended by the manufacturer.

This can refer to any good manual prepared by the manufacturer.

2) critical issues:

Although relatively uncommon, such problems are those in which a machine can not perform any useful purpose unless this problem is rectified. And if it is an attempt to run the machine with critical issues, there will be a great risk to the machine, because no one try to run a machine with a critical problem. Frequent recurrence of the problem also can be termed as critical issues.

These problems are seen when all other conventional methods solution of problems mentioned in the manuals have not produced any result.

Each mechanical repair and fix some problems or other in their activities everyday. For centuries, mankind has always found solutions to problems in one way or another. You can ask me what, if so, then what is so great about the "Theory of Problem Solving."

For this question, please let me say that the reason every time any agency has found no problem, he or she has inadvertently applied the same theory is described in the following pages, although relatively small problems, can not have focused so well on logic to solve problems, I tried to do in some depth.

To better understand the concept, I giving an analogy:

This theory has been designed so that instead of focusing our minds on "What is happening and how much the magnitude of the problem? "start thinking" Why the problem appeared after all? ". This is the most important question if the problem is it will be resolved at all in any point of time.

You must be aware that our mind never to answer any "Why?" if all you're thinking is, "What? And How much?"

Now before we proceed, we define from the outset what is meant by problems, puzzles and the problem. These are relevant in the following pages of this theory.

SOLUTION: –

One problem is a problem in which no idea is apparently available for the reason and solution of the problem.

PUZZLE: –

A puzzle is a problem in which some vague guidelines are available for the solution and you have to do something beaten and trial method to find their solution.

PROBLEM: –

This is a problem which has defined method to solve the problem and when an attempt by the method of precision, one can easily find the solution.

In this paper I have tried to device a method which can be a problem first becomes a jigsaw puzzle and can be in the latter become a problem. The problem can easily be resolved then a grave and clear with his method.

2. POINT OF BOOKS: –

Before entering details, let's try to think of a very simple analogy, which is given for the purpose of developing your observation skills in the not simple events. from different perspectives. These prospects are very essential to solve critical problems.

Let us consider a plain white paper without any marking on it. Now, imagine that a pencil marked a point in the paper.

Now suppose that this is a problem that must be removed to reverse the paper to the same state as the original target.

3. Normal operation: –

Before going on the behavior Abnormal any machine or system, think for a while what is meant by the term normal functioning of the machine / system and what is normal operation.

For some people, normal walking may mean that the machine is well maintained and well operated and well designed with a better quality of materials and fabrication techniques reputed / branded market leaders, etc.

All of the above are true but if you go deeper into this issue and concentrate on the time that such a system or machine type not come in to existence, one can see that for each machine / system is working normally when in fact the design is conceptual machine must have been flashed in his mind that the inventor is working properly.

Any device or system on earth, which is the man could not have come into existence if the basic idea or design have not been in his inventor's mind. In fact, all artificial devices and systems are only the ideas he had realized due to the initial efforts of someone.

In these efforts, the author or inventor must have had generally taken into account all requirements to be met before the device or system will serve to your destination.

If you can think for some time what must have been in the designer's mind of any special requirements on a device, one can guess to some extent what might have gone wrong when a particular requirement is not mate with the consequent difficulty in the call. However, the details of this will be discussed later.

Here is a quote from the book "Thought Power" by Swami Sivananda that was very helpful to me during the development of this technique.

"Every action has a past that leads to it, all action has a future that comes from him. An action implies a desire to be told and thinking that shaped it. "

"Every thought is a link in an endless chain of causes and effects, each effect becoming a cause and each cause having been an effect and each link in the chain is welded to the minus end desire of three components, thought and activity. A desire stimulates a thought, a thought is incorporated as an act. Law is the destination network. "

On this basis, the effects of "problems" I have the basic idea

"Each case of a device (in this case word includes every thing is under a device or system or any component not submit due to intentional or unintentional efforts by man nature or any other device or associated system) has a past that leads to it, every event has a future that comes from him. "

"Every event is a link in an endless chain of causes and effects, each effect becoming a cause and each cause having been an effect."

If the above is correct principle understood, you can try to diagnose a problem by observing the nature of the anomaly with great care.

4. Abnormal or COMMON OBSERVATIONS: –

These observations play more important role in diagnosing a problem. Some of the highlights of these observations may include (This list can never be exhaustive and will be applied while respecting individual sentence.)

The peculiar nature of these observations may be different for different areas of activities viz. O & M plant, civil, electrical, C & I, IT and telecommunications, doctors, cooks, etc, but the basic philosophy of any root cause analysis is the same as explained below.

A. PHYSICAL OBSERVATIONS

a) Sound: - Intensity, model or type, frequency, relation between sound and rpm occurring rotation machine and any other conditions that occur simultaneously with the sound.

b) Vibrations: – Its nature, pattern cyclical variation in magnitude, direction changes, the relationship with the revolutions of the machine, etc.

C) Comments Visuals: – Any sign or indication anywhere that may indicate the former presence of high temperature, water, steam, oil or any other flight chemical, physical deformity, gently rubbing and with or dents caused by friction. Deformity in isolation or support system or coating material, normal wear and tear or overuse and tearing of a component, horizontal output (marked by a spirit level) or vertical (plumb verified) component respect to its intended orientation, deviation from concentricity destination (which may result in a mounting system or during dismantling), the slack somewhere, due to a defect in the system support, etc.

Here is a small case study can be mentioned. A vertical pump gland was frequent failure as a major problem. Many repeated attempts, as a revision, verification of the rightness of the shaft, shaft replacement, manga, etc a no. of times they were tried, but the problem remains.

Ultimately, even the producers were called, but neither was able to diagnose the root cause of the problem and the problem remained. Finally, once the motor coupling and had retired and the stuffing box was hidden, it was observed coincidence that the shaft is eccentric in the cavity of the stuffing box. d) Jamming: – If a device can be rotated by hand, the nature of their freedom of movement or if more force for rotation, the position in which more force is required.

e) the recording parameters: – When recorders are available for some important parameters, the nature of their variation from normal value, the relationship with other recorded parameters, the nature of the bandwidth obtained by joining all the maximum and minimum values for the respective lines, the gradient of the variation of normal values, etc.

f) Leaf logging parameters: – All parameters related to the log sheet as to the extent that any deviation has occurred. However, it should be borne in mind that when taking the reading record sheet, one can never be sure how accurate readings at the particular time, unless one has taken some initial steps to guarantee.

g) Ammeters: – The frequency and extent of hunting in the present and their relationship over time with abnormal sound, vibration or any other abnormality.

h) Temperature: The increase in temperature above normal working temperature is also an indication of abnormality in the system, observed more increasing frequency as the bearing temperature.

I) Leaks - A leak in the oil system, water vapor, air etc. may also be peculiar observations that may have caused some lack of lubricant, air, steam, cooling water, mainly due to any problems that might occur.

j) Any other comments: – Any other comments as the deformity erosion, corrosion, improper heat treatment, etc., which may or may not be directly related to the abnormality, but has been a significant divergence on the machine or system with respect to the normal state of operation before the system and the subsequent operation of the arrival of the anomaly.

These observations, , to examine the person who is familiar with the system and knows the behavior of the machine during normal operation before and after "complete Trouble" of the machine. Most of these come from observations of operations personnel, including local operators are regularly monitoring the machine and its behavior.

B. chemical parameters / REMARKS

Chemical parameters of water, steam, oil, metals (composition, grain structure revealed by Replication analysis), the pH value of liquids, etc also reveal the change of state of normal to abnormal for some parameters, which can be called and peculiar observations.

C. PARAMETERS OF ELECTRICITY / REMARKS

D. MEDICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL PARAMETERS / REMARKS

Whenever any physician is the diagnosis of any ailment, is primarily concerned with the temperature, heart rate, ECG readings, test report pathological X-ray reports, etc, which are basically the only specific comments on what the applicability of this theory is concerned. Whenever any dish is not to the taste of consumers, these parameters are needed. When it landed in trouble, some manual or the manufacturer provides instructions for resolving problems that are similar to driving in a city connected to a high way where you can ask and learn the direction in which the road is high there. In If you are coming to some of the reasons it seems absurd that the problems, you can check the correctness of their exercise by some tests or measurements in that first guess on the outcome of a new analysis of the logic "if-then" and then you can check it by measuring parameter affected.

a. The conventional thinking about problems:

In conventional thinking, our mind focuses on the problem itself and on the basis of our experience and trial for similar problems found before, our thinking is likely to find reasons for the trouble, one after another. If this does not help to find the root cause of problems, we believe that the problem is not able to be resolved despite our best efforts and some expert or the manufacturer should be consulted.

The manufacturer or an expert horizon broader than data / facts about your system and you think of such a broader perspective. Sometimes even that can solve the problem.

So selective replacement of parts that starts is actually a process of trial and error and may or may not be able to resolve the problems from the root for the same is not under with us.

b. Find root cause of the problem through the theory:

With the theory of problem solving mind are drawn to not only the problem itself, which is being monitored carefully, but all the available observations are not so peculiar as carefully controlled in the conventional approach.

Therefore, our mind tries to find probable reasons for all the specific comments, one by one and only there is a high probability that we can now reach a conclusion based on mental reasoning peculiar observations.

When any particular reason, is thought by some peculiar observations, we are also able to explain some peculiar observing others as well, our mind is blocked and attempts to explain the problems and other specific comments to those reasons. I noticed that when ever this happens, all the observations and peculiar problems of which they are capable of explaining logically due to a particular root cause that can be declared as the real culprit of the sentence.

Sometimes, instead of the real root cause, we some of the reasons intermediate (events), which are caused by the real root cause. Then, a similar exercise ultimately leads to the real root cause blame for the problem, which can be relatively easy to solve without much trial and error approach.

This picture of the problem solving process is very easy to remember and once you practice this type of analysis for some cases, it is not necessary to go through all the theory again and again.

7. CLOSED V / S systems Open:

The type of thinking is good for closed systems in which we can not visualize what is happening within the system as a turbine, pump, or any machine closed. However, in the case of open systems as a boiler of a power plant or a boat or any other larger system in which we see and witness some of the things that happen in the interior slightly different approach is required under to:

In closed systems, which can only witness the effects of internal events and peculiar observations need not consider the effects of these observations.

Only causes of these observations are bound to be explored. We're just going backwards to find the reasons for the observations individuals.

In open systems, some of the specific comments are having some of the effects as "entry" to the system. As an example of open system problems, one of the units in a power plant was critical problems of the formation of clinker. The flue gas was removed from the boiler and was used for carrying coal dust to the boiler through individual mill fans. It was noted that the relatively large diameter pipe was used in order to avoid choking on the system (Peculiar observation). The effect of this was that the combustion gas temperature for this unit in the area between the level of firing coal and recording recirculation FG point level was relatively higher. In addition, there was insufficient oxygen in this area as result of favorable conditions for clinkerization (high temperature and reducing atmosphere) was created. 8. CONCLUSIONS: –
