hi. my computer went down i had the family tree maker. lost cd. can i down load the tree as i have a copy of my tree but it’s a read only? thanks
hey, sure hope that your copy is a gedcom file? (I’d love seeing a whole slew of responses, getting folks to back up files). Gedcom files end in .ged, and they will be “read” by almost all genealogy programs. You can download PAF for free.
Another question, is the computer itself broken, or just windows? If the system comes on at all, but does not load windows, there ARE WAYS to salvage files. DO NOT let someone format it before investigating this.
If the file is one original to the product (something done by someone else), can’t help on that.
