AlMahdi Muhammad $87.62 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. AlMahdi Muhammad (October 27, 1637 August 2, 1718) was an Imam of Yemen who ruled in 16861718. He belonged to the Qasimid family that was descended from the Prophet Muhammad and dominated the Zaidi imamate in 15971962. Muhammad was the son of the imam alMahdi Ahmad. When the latter died in 1681, Muhammad was prevented from succeeding him. When the next imam alMuayyad Muhammad II died in 1686, a struggle for the imamate broke out between various contenders. Muhammad claimed the imamate in Mansura, but was besieged by opposing relatives. However, he managed to break the siege and capture the enemy leaders. He was now generally acknowledged by the various parts of the country. He is known under the name Sahib alMawahib, since he kept his residence in alMawahib east of Dhamar. Author: Olegario M.
