Can anyone help me with the transfer of a GEDCOM file?
I used 1998 generations, and tried to transfer a gedcom to Family Tree Maker 2008. A message appears saying that the gedcom should be 5,5. Is there any way to: Update my gedcom to FTM 5.5 or higher to accept my gedcom? Thank you very much for your help.
http://www.cyndislist.com/software.htm a lot of articles or sites that have to do with the software. I also read that 5.5 is the "new norm "that is supposed to be read by all programs. An alternative would be FAP Releases www.familysearch.org, and see if they will have the older file, then you may export it in usable format. If someone has a higher FTM can serve as a "bridge" that could work well. I sent the page so it could investigate all the relevant information for you. There seems to be a mailing list for users of the generations (scroll to the bottom of page). Are you at all times enough to know the words "planned obsolescence"? My husband says some new refrigerators require a connection Internet. * Shudder * I drop a note through my profile if this is not working, and see what I can do.
