Superhuman Senses: How Wireless Sensors keep you safe, healthy, and successful

Superhuman senses you have, but know it yet.

You can detect the presence of a tiny speck of Anthrax in a large public space, or count the fish in an area of 4,000 square miles. You can hear shot hundreds of feet away and use your superpowers to bring vision to a criminal as he tries to escape. You can look in the eyes of a person who never have seen, and tell me your identity.

Best of all, with each step day, his superhuman senses grow stronger. You acquire new ones, too.

No, do not get bitten by a radioactive spider or exposed to gamma radiation. You're not a mutant X-Man.

You are just lucky to be alive during the birth of a new class of computers, sensors called. They are multiplying faster than chocolate stains on a child birthday party at school.

In the time it took me to write this time, the human race thousands of new sensors deployed in the world. Some are old-hat sensors such as theft alarms and smoke detectors. But others extend and super-charge our senses in a way that seems ripped from the pages of your favorite comics.

If a tree grows in the forest and no is there, does it make noise? The sensors are being added to the forest – often to study the behavior of wild animals – and the response is a resounding yes.

Sensors called vagrants have been floating in ocean currents for several years, sending information not only for researchers but also to elementary school classrooms. In the process, we are learning huge amounts about the oceans and climate.

Thanks to the sensors, the Air Force pilots in Colorado Springs now control unmanned aircraft that carried out bombing missions in Afghanistan, the pilots biggest problem is coming home to a family life at 5 pm, after operate in a war zone.

Sensors extend his senses to the very little, and far away. They can detect pathogens at the molecular level, and monitor the Earth – or on other planets – at great distances. Satellite images show the impact of human development in such places as Mexico City, Las Vegas and the Amazon.

Never before have – or other humans – has been seen in detail how our world is changing from one day to the other, or one year to the next.

Four major changes are affecting the growth of their superhuman senses again.

1) Sensors are increasingly wireless, which means it can run almost anywhere. 2) We are thinking how to get sensors for use in small amounts of power, or even to generate all the energy you need from your environment (it ie solar energy, or power of the natural vibrations.) 3) The sensors are diminishing rapidly. 4) The sensors are networked.

In total, these changes mean that the sensors are literally woven into the fabric of our world.

Think of a new Internet of sensors, which will run their senses in ways that are difficult to predict. In fact, it is a misconception that Google only searches web pages. Through the web, and you can access millions readings of the sensors, from radar screens and satellite images to the sensor data of nature preserves as Duck Island.

If you've ever read a comic book, you know that gaining superhuman powers will change your life. Peter Parker did not return home with new spider powers and continue with life as usual. These powers gave her life upside down.

Similarly, these new powers will change the course of human history. Quickly.

Sensors disclose truth about our history, environment, interactions, and the universe. Just look at the NBC Olympic coverage, and get an idea of what I mean. Now run a skier can overlay over your competitor, so you can see exactly when and how an athlete has the edge. No more vague generalities, we can now see the differences 1/100ths of a second between two executions.

Knowing the truth excites some and terrifies others. Ask what it is to have Superman vision X-ray Sometimes it is quite depressing to know the truth.

Take a moment and look around. In less time than having the Yankees win another World Series, sensors will be on your clothes, walls, pets, vehicles and body. Of course, you can be one of the first, in which case all these are already true.
