Christina
Christina is a female name Christian source.
Saint Christina (third or fifth century AD), a saint and martyr before the Catholic and Orthodox tradition of the congregation
By Catholic and Orthodox traditions, Santa Cristina was a saint and martyr allegedly born in Persia in the third century or fifth century. His feast day is July 24. It know very little about his life.
Historical information about Christian is scarce, but several folk legends and hagiographies have arisen from it. These accounts vary widely, but seem to agree on some details: Christina was the daughter of a rich pagan judge called Urban / Urbain who had tortured her daughter because of their faith, but not before God thwarted his efforts on several occasions. The character of torture varies by say, and may include iron hooks, broiled by the fire, placement in a kiln, wheel torture, assault by snakes, assailment by arrows, drowning at sea, and other various methods. In all versions of the story finally Christina perishes, but not before God shows his anger by lashing out at his tormentors. Christina's relics are said to be kept in Palermo, of which Christina is one of four employers saints.
As evidence of Christina's life and martyrdom is scarce, some scholars have concluded that his legend is the result of pious fiction that merges with history. The subject of legend (a beautiful Christian girl is tortured to death by pagan men, which in turn suffered the wrath of God) is repeated in many hagiographies pre-congregation, especially the St. Barbara.
Cristina's amazing (1150 – 1224), also known as Christina Mirabilis, was a Christian holy woman born in Brustem (near Sint-Truiden, Belgium) in 1150. She is sometimes considered a saint. Christina is so remembered for her faith and for its numerous and violent attacks ecstasy. His commemoration day is July 24 (06 August by the old calendar).
Born a peasant, Christina was orphaned at 15. When I was 21 (22 as some sources), is said to have suffered a massive stroke. According to legend, his condition was so severe that the witnesses assumed she was dead. The funeral was out, but during the service, he woke up, and is said to levitate the crowd. A priest eventually ordered Christina to descend, and he did, only to land on the altar and proclaiming that he had witnessed heaven, hell and purgatory. Purgatory in later to become a major theme in his life.
After the incident of levitation, Christina is still haunted by the strange behavior and unusual occurrences. As chronicled by his contemporaries, suffered convulsions mass (which led some modern scholars to postulate that he was attacked by epilepsy). He also began to claim he could "sin" smell of other parishioners. She is said to have climbed trees, hidden in ovens and roof level (when it is not simple coat) in a dramatic attempt to escape the feeling.
Christina shows other strange behavior as well. Is said to have handled the fire with impunity, and they have tied themselves to a treadmill to be dragged, apparently no injuries, around and around in the water. She also said to have swum without motivation through icy waters. When tied to a pillory to prevent that harm itself (or according to other sources, because witnesses assumed she was "full of devils"), is said to have always escaped unharmed. Christina died in 1224 of natural causes, 74.
