Scouts-An important part of every successful scheme Hunters
It is a common misconception that the practice of shooting only bring a successful hunter. Practice Shooting is only good for grinding and skills is an important part of a scheme, which should include exploration. A person may be the best shooter in the world but no game to shoot them will not be a successful hunter. By contrast a person who finds the game, but can not hit the broad side of a barn does a disservice to itself, those in the woods with him, and the name of the game.
Exploration is defined by Webster as "the action to obtain information about enemy forces or area. "When scouting for game hunter must consider the area first. This means simply spending time in an area to become familiar with the terrain and animals within that area.
Scouting begins with the selection of an area to hunt and as important that you have permission to hunt the area. Next do some research before setting foot on earth you want to search. Google Earth and Google Maps are amazing tools for exploration. Google Maps now has a terrain detail, a virtual topographical map. Unfortunately, the free version are sometimes outdated maps. Nothing like the old tried and true topographic map sheet. These can be taken in your package, and for study in the field. Identify on the map, water sources, power food, and the coverage areas and open areas. Search for any natural barriers or man. On his first visit can use these features to navigate while in the area. If you carry a topographical map to mark your map and make any changes you find an area.
Start searching open areas or through binoculars from a distance and observe the activity. Some hunting areas will not have this kind of search field as simply as I can from distance. These are soft scouting techniques which means they are not invasive.
Hard exploration means deliberate and methodical slow travel in the area earth observation and movement of animals through signs. When scanning a hard look for the trail area usually run just inside cover around all sorts of open areas and trails that extend into lots of mature wood, heavy cover. Identify areas beds and resting places and trails leading in and out of these areas.
Secondly as a scout under consideration the "enemy" (our game animal of choice) and how to set for an ambush. Consider the animal and its needs. Food, water, safe place to rest and an annual sex drive are all things to consider. The trails leading to and from open fields where animals can gather some seasons may see little activity compared with paths between food and water sources and bedding area. These sources may change with the season so it makes it a more familiar with an area throughout the year a successful hunter will become. Familiarity will help hunters to decide where to put one foot at a given time of the hunting season in some areas may take four months for hunters arc. Sneak into an area of the beds, while the big ball is to eat and then ambushed on their return to a common seating area can be a great plan.
Now we have our location (s) chosen for the ambush, it's time to find our route (s) output. The aim is to find routes that are not invasive in the paths animals that are hunting you are traveling. A good route can be traveled with little noise and occasional cleaning of the branch or pile of leaves on the trees for more input and output quiet zone is a good idea. Be sure to ask the owner before removing anything that lives or is attached along its path. Leaving in silence can be as important and gain entry in a low voice. The smaller the animal the hunter knows that hunting is around the animal most likely to present itself for a well placed shot.
Any person hunting is already a success in my book, because they have found something wonderful, even without harvesting game. With the right combination of practice shooting and exploring the hunter can hone your skills and applying the proper way to be more successful in harvesting game.
Happy Hunting!
