My mom’s last name is Senauth and her grandfather’s name was Cunauth. I can’t find the meaning anywhere.?
What are the meanings or ancestries of these names.

if this is mom’s grandfather on her FATHER’S SIDE.. then one of two things has happened. One.. the original name is Cunauth, and between grandpa and your mother, the name has been altered. Or.. Senauth is the original (original and “correct” are not the same”), and you have at least one record that mispells grandpa’s name.
Yes, there is a moral in this. Dont assume that all names have a meaning. One of my lines started out as Dauphinais, and ended up as Dolphay. If I tried to find a “meaning” for Dolphay.. it WILL NOT EXIST because all it is, is a variation of something else.
MANY US names fall into this situation.
Grandpa has an ancestry, which involves both his father and his mother, whose name will be different at birth. His male cousins may have the same name, but will not have the same ancestry, since they have a different mother.
YOUR ancestry will be your mother, her parents, her grandparents, and back. They will be individual persons with very different backgrounds.
The tip.. don’t confuse a last name with a genealogy.
