Oprah Ancestry
Are African Americans mixed when it comes to their African ancestry?

SLaves from different ethnic groups/tribes were taken from West Africa/south Africa and all pu ttogether and from then on there were treated as a single ethnicity (African American). So does this mean that African Americans are mixed when it comes to African ancestry? For example,Morgan freeman is part turaeg/part songhai when it comes to his african ancestry.ALthough there are a few who are 1 ethnicity.FOr example,Blair underwood and Forrest whitaker are igbos, and oprah winfrey is zulu……..
lol the first dude always has a vandetta against blacks

Im not talking about new world mixes(indian,white,etc)\

Im talking about African mixes

Some of you people need to pick up a book and learn something

African Americans or Blacks? There is a difference.
Being only part black, I would have to say that you are correct in a sense. To be “mixed” in this day and age is to be “bi or multi-racial”. Such as “black & white” or “asian & spanish” etc. However, all of the slaves from Africa were taken…from Africa. And unfortunately, since Africans are considered to be just one race (you can still divide the countries up), then the rest of the world views “African Americans” as just that…one race. Granted, not every African American or Black is one complexion, there are a variety of skintones, hair textures, facial features etc. Some don’t even look like they are African American or Black. I guess it depends on how you view yourself. However, to the rest of the world, an AA or Black is one race.
