What is the best genealogy software out there?
And please tell why you think it is. I'm thinking of getting a new program. Heritage I Luxury Family Tree I have a program for the first time. However, I'd like something better. One thing I would like if possible is when you create a web page that can go beyond 32 generations. Heritage limits just 32. What are some interesting features in yours that you enjoy? I was considering RootsMagic because it sounded good but not going beyond 32 generations in creating a website. (Anyone know why?) Thanks. I tried several types of genealogy software. My favorite, hands down, is called "Roots Magic." It's great to deal with media and sources, and has a lot of ingenious tools. The person who wrote that puts out updates frequently and is very susceptible to suggestions for new features. I know of no limit on the generations in this program to everyone. I like the feature that allows me to color code all the ancestors of a particular person – that way, when you working in a particular branch of your tree, you can easily trace it back to the person, even when you're not familiar with all his ancestors, the same thus has a feature that allows you to determine the relationship of all persons in the database to any particular person, that is, if I can establish relationships for my own child, will tell you that I am his mother, that different people are his ancestors, and tell me nobody's relationship to him that is related by blood. It has standard features like being able to estimate the relationship between two people and also its role in combination is very good. Its search function is easily the best I've seen, which allows you to search a variety of fields in combination.
