World Vision Gift – 10 fruit trees or two hens and a rooster?

I'm getting a charitable gift for my mom, when you buy something through World Vision for people in a developing country nation, but I'm stuck between buying ten trees of fruit or two hens and a rooster. The fruit will provide essential vitamins such as A and C, which boosts the immune system, helps prevent disease, and blindness, to name a few. However, two hens and a rooster can provide up to 150 eggs a year (which can also produce baby chicks), which provides protein and fat. Families can also sell both fruit and eggs for a profit. As an undergraduate, I am in a super tight budget, so it will not be able to buy the gifts. Can help you decide which one to buy, and give a reason why you think your choice would be the best decision? Thank you!

I would like go with the chickens. Fruit trees are more likely to die before reproducing, while the chickens grow quickly. Chickens are very versatile meat eggs, chickens, the family may have a small herd is in no time at all.
