I have really wanted to know more about my family. I know they're originally from Nova Scotia and Maine. My grandfather (Of which I get the name) had 13 siblings. I tried to look at things in the family tree online, but I found nothing. Just interested! Thanks

The real spelling you want is Boutillier and the family was originally from Quebec. It is also a family for research frustrating because there was six separate (and unrelated) families that this line is often confused. These include Boutillet, Bouthilliette, Botiere, Boutier lines. I spent two years working on the separation of the correct spelling when I researched the family Boutillet someone about 10 years ago. We will not have much luck with online trees because they are notoriously unreliable, but also be made by people who are well intentioned but not well versed in the nuances of French-Canadian customs.
