It was time to join the masses of customers satisfied by satellite and make the big change.

But what to choose? After all, had been tried and true cable buyer for so long I had no idea what satellite provider was better.

"Oh, just a selection," my neighbor told me. "They're all the same."

That could not be right, I thought.

Or no?

So began a series of one-month research Satellite TV, Dish Network vs. Direct TV comparison in all directions until I knew every last detail about each service.

Much of the despair my family, I was determined to find out everything I could about the satellite providers available, and make an informed consumer choice.

And the problem is that most sites that aim to tell you where to find the best deals are simply horrible.

Now, I found three that were worth it. For what are the, you have to scroll to the bottom of this story where you'll find the links.

The good news, of course, is that there are only two companies to choose from – Dish Network and Direct TV. Considering how difficult it was to find many differences between the two (and ultimately decide which was best), I'm sure he was glad there were no others.

My first concern was if I could use two companies, where I live. That was not a problem for me, but a friend said that Direct TV could not give a signal in your neighborhood, because some large oak in the neighbor's yard that was interfering with your signal. But, he said, because the signal from Dish Network came from the opposite direction (see figure) was able to sign with them – to make the decision easier than mine.

Then I looked in attendance.

Both companies provide the same level of service for relatively the same price. Packages for both Dish Network and Direct TV begin at $ 19.99 per month, with family packs more useful ranging around $ 50 – $ 60.

I found that Direct TV offers full sports packages including NFL Sunday Ticket (hurray!) And packages covering all major college and professional sports teams. Also fewer restrictions sport dates in many large cities such as Philadelphia, so their packages well worth the extra money.

While Direct TV also offers other international less popular sports such as cricket, rugby and football Dish Network tends to focus more on international sports coverage, according to many of the people speaking.
