UK Ancestry Visa Application?
I am off to the UK to play rugby and i am eligible for the UK ancesry visa and intend on sending my application as soon as i verify a few things. My grandfather was born in the UK but since his migration to Australia has since lost his original birth documents. He does however have a current British Passport.
I have a copy of mine and my mothers Birth certificates. Would this be sufficient enough to prove the ancestry lines?
Thanks.
If you use the link you can order the certificate that you have lost, it is a simple process. If your grandfather was born in the UK then the onus is on you to prove it, hence why you need a certificate to prove you are related to him
By the way the other post says about you getting a British passport. You can not, the privilege only goes down one generation. Your mother could apply for a British passport as her father was British born, You are the second generation so you are not eligible.
For example my daughter was born in the UK she can pass this down to her children. My son was born in the US and he can get a passport through me as I am British born. He will not be able to pass this down to his children as they will be second generation born outside the UK.
So when I am old and grey (a long way off yet!) I will have one set of grand kids who can claim British passports and another set through my son who will not be eligible.
