Where Can I Find My Ancestry
Where I can find the documents of the Russian Census of 1897?

Now I know the obvious answer: "In Russia," lol! But obviously I can not only fly from California to Russia. Is there an online database where I can find this information? I am trying to trace ancestry, and we just have information about my great-grandparents and Anne Fedoreshenko Timofey course there are a million different spelling for the name and I do not know what is right). Thanks for any advice!

As noted above, many records from that time period were lost or destroyed by two invasions and a revolution against the government that took the census. Nothing survived the three is remarkable. The online database apparently looking for here: http://demoscope.ru/weekly/ssp/rus_lan_97.php As the link below states, many of the demographic data was taken by the 135,000 accountants within the family. the results were published in 119 volumes of 89 guberniyas (Provinces) and two volumes of short. The total population of the Russian Empire was recorded at 125 640 021 persons (50.2% women, 49.8% males). The 119 volumes of 125 million people averages to about 1,055,798 people for each volume – too much to reasonably expect from the data in different families by name, in my humble opinion. Although I have serious doubts that you will find information about people on this, I do not read Russian well enough to say that for sure. Maybe Slava or Dmitry T can help with that element of your search. Успехов!
