How to make my 5 years old cat , love the new kitten we brought at home?
My 5 years old cat has been living in our apartment since she was a baby, yesterday my father brought a little homeless kitten from the street at home. We washed it, feed it and it will be living here until it grows old enough. The problem is that when we showed the kitten to our cat ,she started to hiss at the kitten. How to make the 2 cats live together happy?
I have had a lot of pets and 2 lizards that did the same thing so here are some ideas:
Keep them separated for now
Let them see each other every once in a while
DON’T set them down by each other yet
If you want to you could try putting some plexi glass in a doorway between them as a fence so they can see each other- but make sure the big cat doesn’t jump over to the other side!!
*The big cat is probably acting like this because he/she is jealous of the baby getting some of what would normally be his/her attention, and if its a girl, maybe she will soon accept it and care for her like her own baby. Just make sure it gets milk or kitty food or whatever you are feeding it. If in about a week nothing improves you may want to put ads up for a loving home to take the kitty in.
